MECHATRONIC MINUTE- OMRON LD SERIES MOBILE ROBOTS

In this Mechatronic Minute, Derek Cross, Applications Engineer at Mechatronic Solutions, covers the LD mobile robot series from Omron.

The LD series currently features 3 different mobile robot models:

There is the LD-60 with a 60kg or about 130lb payload.
The LD-90 with a 90kg or about 195lb payload.
And lastly, the LD-250 which we have here in this video, that has a 250kg or about 550lb payload with metal side skins that make it the ideal choice for material handling applications with bulky and heavy items.
The LD series robots are self-navigating Autonomous Mobile Robots (or AMRs) designed for dynamically moving material in challenging environments that may include confined passageways as well as high-traffic areas. The AMR’s ability to automatically re-route its path to its destination means your process doesn’t need to stop when presented with an obstacle – it can flexibly adapt to the environment.

Unlike traditional Autonomously Guided Vehicles (AGVs), the LD series requires no facility modifications like floor magnets or wall beacons, saving deployment costs and set up time.

Omron’s Mobile Planner software provides an easy-to-use solution for set up and configuration. While Omron’s Fleet Operations Workspace (FLOW) solution provides an intelligent fleet management system that monitors mobile robot locations, traffic flow, and job requests, for up to 100 robots, ensuring your factory operates at peak efficiency.

Additionally, the LD-250 that we highlighted in the video features:
