MECHATRONIC MINUTE- OMRON S8V-CP ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT PROTECTOR

In the first edition of the Mechatronic Minute, we have the Omron S8V-CP 24V DC electronic circuit protector. It comes in three different varieties:

4 channel with adjustable outputs
8 channel with adjustable outputs
4 channel UL Class 2
The 4 and 8 channel versions with adjustable outputs allow you to adjust between 2 and 10 amps on the output side. The UL Class 2 version is fixed at 3.8 amps. The key benefit of the S8V-CP is the compact space-saving design with widths of only 42-45mm. Compare that to 4 circuit breakers at 70mm or 8 circuit breakers at 140mm, you can save a lot of panel space and clean up a lot of wiring too.

It has pushbutton indicators so you can turn off/on individual circuit breakers. It also has a sequential start-up that is load dependent so it can vary from 50ms to 5s depending on the load on each circuit.
